Shipwreck Books

I realize it is a corny exercise, but I do not mind a question like, "If you could only have ten books with you if you were stuck on a deserted island, what would they be?" because it does prompt one to think of a list of absolute favorites. So, here is my list of "shipwreck books" in response to such a question. Just for fun and in no particular order and also ever evolving. This is an elite list, so I am not sure I will ever get to ten. And, yes, please share yours.

Gilead, Marilynne Robinson
A Place on Earth, Wendell Berry
The Memory of Old Jack, Wendell Berry
Dancing at the Rascal Fair, Ivan Doig
The Big Rock Candy Mountain, Wallace Stegner
Red Hills and Cotton, Ben Robertson
Once a Runner, John L. Parker, Jr.
A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway
